The KCBS National Steak Championships will consist of qualifier contests across the United States that may be standalone contests or held in conjunction with KCBS-sanctioned barbeque competitions.

The KCBS National Steak Championships featuring the Kansas City Strip Steak will offer a new competitive food sport for the outdoor grilling enthusiast and seasoned competitive pitmasters alike!
Show off your skills cooking steak over live-fire and go head-to-head against other pitmasters for a chance to win trophies, cash, bragging rights, and a chance to attend the KCBS National Steak Championships in the heart of Cowtown, Kansas City, and the historic Kansas City Stockyards!
Each qualifier contest will pay
down to the top 10 contestants.
The winner of each contest will receive a qualifying invitation to attend the KCBS National Steak Championship Invitational in Kansas City, home of the Kansas City Strip! (No pass downs of 1st place winners will be allowed). Those placing second through tenth will be qualified to compete in the KCBS National Steak Open Contest, which will be open to all KCBS members.
The KCBS National Steak Championships is proud to partner with Creekstone Farms® and Double R Ranch® as the official meat purveyors to provide Choice-Grade Kansas City Strip Steaks that meet the specifications of the KCBS National Steak Championships.
Pitmasters will be able to consistently obtain high-quality, approved steaks to have on hand for practice and to bring to contests to demonstrate their culinary skill. Approved steaks will be between 1 and 1/8 inches and 1 and 5/8 inches; weighing between 10oz and 16oz. Pitmasters will show their approved steaks in the sealed packaging during meat inspection at the contests.
